Whatever brings you to therapy right now, you don’t have to navigate it alone, and you shouldn’t have to.
Healing isn’t about willpower or ‘figuring it out’ by yourself. It’s about having the right support, helpful tools, and a space where you can show up as you are without judgment.
At Every Body Therapy, we believe mental health isn’t something to be ‘bootstrapped,’ but something to meet with honesty, patience, and compassionate care. Our therapists bring their knowledge of a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches to tailor each session to what works best for you.
Whether you’re here to break unhelpful patterns, manage anxiety, or get through one of life’s many rough patches, we’ll meet you where you are and get to work.
While each of our therapists specialize in different areas, we share the collective foundation of inclusive, client–centered therapy. We do not approach care in a color-blind, neutral, "one-size-fits-all" way.
Rather than using one treatment methodology, we use a blend of modalities and therapeutic methods to work
with the individual needs of each client.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
A powerful approach that helps you work with different ‘parts’ of yourself, especially those carrying trauma, often understood in the IFS framework as “exiles”.
-
Internal Family Systems is a therapy that sees the mind as made up of different "parts," similar to various personalities or inner voices. It aims to help people understand and collaborate with these parts compassionately, leading to a calm and centered core "Self" that can guide them through difficulties, instead of hiding from or fighting their inner struggles.
In other words, IFS therapy is like looking inside yourself and identifying different parts of you that might be causing conflict, like a worried part that always wants to double-check things or a critical part that talks down to you. We work to understand why these parts exist, what their intentions are, and then help them to work together more harmoniously.
IFS doesn't view any part as "bad," but rather understands that each part is trying to protect you in its own way.
-
IFS is for anyone who feels stuck in patterns of self-judgment, emotional overwhelm, or inner conflict. If you struggle with self-criticism, intrusive thoughts, or parts of yourself that seem to hold you back, IFS helps you understand and heal these internal dynamics with compassion. It is particularly effective for those navigating trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD (CPTSD), anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relational struggles, and self-esteem challenges.
IFS is also beneficial for those who feel disconnected from themselves or struggle with emotional regulation, as it provides a structured way to explore and integrate different parts of the Self.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt Therapy is a holistic, experiential form of psychotherapy that focuses on increasing self-awareness, personal responsibility, and present-moment experience.
-
Rooted in the belief that growth happens through awareness and integration, Gestalt Therapy helps individuals understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in the context of their current experiences rather than solely analyzing the past. This approach emphasizes personal agency, creative exploration, and the mind-body connection, often using techniques like role-playing, guided imagery, and dialogue to help clients gain deeper insight into themselves and their relationships.
-
Gestalt Therapy is ideal for individuals who feel disconnected from their emotions, struggle with unresolved conflicts, or want to deepen their self-awareness. It is particularly helpful for those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and patterns of avoidance or self-sabotage. Because Gestalt Therapy encourages emotional expression and active engagement, it can be beneficial for people who feel stuck in repetitive life patterns and want to foster a greater sense of empowerment and authenticity. If you're looking for a therapy approach that prioritizes personal growth, emotional processing, and living more fully in the present, Gestalt Therapy offers a dynamic and transformative path toward self-discovery.
Attachment-Based Therapy
Attachment-Based Therapy is a therapeutic approach that explores how early relationships shape our emotional patterns, self-perception, and interactions with others.
-
Rooted in attachment theory, this approach helps individuals understand and heal wounds from past relationships—particularly those formed in childhood—that may be influencing their current emotions and behaviors. By creating a secure, trusting therapeutic relationship, attachment-based therapy provides a safe space to process feelings of abandonment, insecurity, or relational distress while developing healthier ways of connecting with yourself and others.
-
Attachment-Based Therapy is for anyone struggling with relationship difficulties, emotional intimacy, trust issues, or patterns of insecurity and avoidance. It can be especially beneficial for individuals who have experienced childhood neglect, parental abandonment, inconsistent caregiving, or relational trauma. People dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-worth, or difficulty forming or maintaining close relationships may also find this approach helpful. Additionally, it is effective for couples looking to improve their emotional connection, as well as those recovering from breakups, divorce, or attachment wounds stemming from past relationships. Whether you're working through early attachment trauma or simply seeking to cultivate deeper, more fulfilling connections, Attachment-Based Therapy can help foster security, self-awareness, and emotional resilience.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices to help individuals manage intense emotions, build distress tolerance, and improve interpersonal relationships
-
Originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD), DBT is now widely used for a range of mental health concerns, including emotional dysregulation, self-destructive behaviors, and difficulties with impulse control. DBT focuses on four key skill areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, providing practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater balance and self-awareness.
-
DBT is ideal for individuals who experience overwhelming emotions, difficulty managing distress, impulsivity, or struggles in their relationships. It is particularly effective for those dealing with borderline personality disorder (BPD), complex PTSD (CPTSD), anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and self-harming behaviors. DBT can also benefit people who find themselves caught in patterns of black-and-white thinking, emotional outbursts, or difficulty asserting their needs in relationships. If you’re looking for concrete strategies to help regulate emotions, build resilience, and develop healthier coping mechanisms, DBT offers a structured, skills-based approach to support lasting change.
All sessions are held via HIPAA compliant Teleconferencing or in person in the Midtown, Columbus Circle, or Greenpoint offices. Our services vary in cost dependent on several variables, such as which clinician you are seeing and your individual resources.

We don't call it "Couples Therapy" for a reason; 1. it's not only for romantic partnerships and 2. not all partnerships are contained to pairs of two! We know that relationships of ALL kinds are subject to conflict, hardship, communication challenges, and dissatisfaction. This is why we are trained in professional, platonic, and familial relationship counseling as well. In relationship counseling, our client is the relationship in front of us, not the people. That's why we strongly encourage all parties to be active in their own individual work before beginning relationship counseling.
Alternative relationships (monogamous, ENM/CNM/poly, queer, genderqueer, and anything between and beyond in identity) are welcome and affirmed here.

Group therapy is an amazing treatment modality that this practice is anchored on due to its emphasis on minimizing a person's sense of isolation and maximizing their sense of community and connection. In other words, we believe it to be the best antidote to the societal harm we aim to combat. Instead of taking marginalized identities and experiences and further dividing them, group therapy lets us clap back and bridge that gap.
We offer a broad array of groups, such as Living With Chronic Illness Support Group, Eating Disorder Processing, Body Image Book Club, New Parents Support Group, Self Worth Intensive, and Queer Womxn's Support Group (by no means an exhaustive list). Groups run once a week for anywhere from 60-75 minutes over the span of 4-12 weeks (each group differs).
